Ben Cockerham comes to RightsFlow from The Orchard where he served as Director of Global Operations for the Music Services division. He was instrumental in the division’s conception and realization and served as the day to day manager over the business areas of Film, TV, Advertising, and Interactive Synchronization, Publishing Administration, Mechanical Licensing, Ringtone/Ringback licensing, Neighboring Rights Collections, and Special Licensing Services. With Patrick Sullivan, Mr. Cockerham started and managed operations in over 10 territories around the globe.
Mr. Cockerham designed the licensing and publishing royalty systems for The Orchard and oversaw the technological implementation of The Orchard’s new Music Services business areas into the existing Orchard systems. With Patrick Sullivan, he continually hired and trained licensing personnel, creating a robust, large-scale licensing department, able to fully function as a standalone unit.
Beyond the management and operations of the division, he developed and implemented a variety of innovative licensing arrangements that offered new revenue models and a chance for artists to increase exposure across international borders.
He has previously worked for John Scher and Al Cafaro’s Metropolitan Talent/Hybrid Records, New York University, and the accounting firm of Sam Griffin & Co.
Mr. Cockerham has a varied background in business development, rights negotiations, accounting, IT, network operations, music history, and is a score composer for film, television, advertising, and video games, as well as a composer of concert music and a performing songwriter. He holds a Bachelor’s in Music Composition from Baylor University and a Master’s of Music Business from New York University.
